POLICE OFFICERS
The Anthony Police Department has an immediate opening for a full-time police officer position. Our department is looking for a professional, motivated person with strong moral character, who has an interest in protecting and serving the residents of a small farming community which takes great pride in its small town feel. Applicants should possess a community-orienting policing mindset and desire, and should possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
The Anthony Police Department is offering a $1,500 sign on bonus. A new hire will receive $500 dollars when hired and $1,000 after 90 days.
The Anthony Police Department is authorized to staff 6 sworn positions including the Chief of Police. Our officers work rotating 12-hour shifts that allow a 3-day weekend off every two weeks. The city of Anthony offers employees a benefits package, KPERS retirement, and first year employees accrue 16 hours of paid time off each month of employment. The department will pay for your attendance at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, and upon completion you will receive the opportunity for further advanced training as you progress in your career. But most importantly, working at a small town police department affords you the opportunity to investigate a case from the first dispatch to the jury trial. You will get the opportunity to respond to a wide variety of calls for service, investigate felony cases ranging from drug distribution to sex offenses, write and execute search warrants, and get to do it all while making strong connections with your community along the way.
Like most police positions, applicants will be required to work some weekends, holidays, day shift, night shift, and other varying special assignments dependent on need.
SALARY Starting salary for a Police Recruit begins at $15.00/hr., increasing to $16.00/hr. after completion of the police academy and probationary period. Lateral applicants will be paid dependent on qualifications, years of experience and other certifications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum qualifications include, high school or GED diploma, 21-years of age at time of appointment, no criminal record, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass a written aptitude test, extensive background check, interview board, drug screen, and psychological testing.
