DESCRIPTION:
The City of Redding Electric Utility (REU) is seeking a highly qualified individual to perform a variety of project management and supervisory support functions within the Electric Utility related to development, implementation, integration, and automation of technology systems used by the
Electric Department personnel.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Under general direction, supervise and assist personnel who administer, customize, and integrate
control and support systems hardware, software and databases (including SQL); create, support,
administer and maintain in-house databases, websites, data portals, document management
systems, advanced operation or analysis programs, and computer networks; provide technical
support and project management for communication equipment and systems; create and implement cyber security practices;·act as a project manager, team leader, or team member in the development of capital or maintenance projects, technical system improvements, and regulatory compliance programs.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge in one or more of the following areas may be qualifying: engineering principles; electric
utility operating, testing, or maintenance practices; Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
(SCADA), energy accounting, distribution control systems, cyber security and secure IP routing; data communication systems administration and support. Knowledge of the principles of supervision and management is highly desirable.
Ability to: Interact effectively with various REU divisions, work teams, contractors, and with the
public; demonstrate good oral and written communication skills; evaluate and implement government regulations and industry standards; troubleshoot a variety of technical problems; design, automate, and integrate advanced operation or analysis programs; and provide technical operational support to all REU divisions through proper management of people and equipment.
Education & Experience: Typical education would include a Bachelor's Degree in an engineering,
computer science or information technology discipline from an accredited college, university, or
equivalent. Typical experience would include five years in any field offering relevant experience.
Experience within the electric utility industry as well as supervisory experience is preferred.
Special Requirements: Possession of the appropriate valid California driver's license or the ability to acquire one within ten days of appointment.

Incomplete applications may not be processed. Meeting the announced requirements does not
guarantee selection into the examination process. Applications will be reviewed to determine those
best qualified to be tested.
Veterans Credit: Veterans who have received an honorable discharge from the military service and
receive a passing score on the examination will have 2 points added to their final examination score.
To obtain this credit, veterans MUST provide a copy of the DD214, indicating honorable discharge,
WITH EACH EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION BY THE CLOSING DATE.
Examination Process: An oral board interview will be administered.
