The Opportunity

Columbia-Greene Community College is seeking a full-time Director of External Programs who will report to the Dean of Enrollment Management. The Director of External Programs develops and manages concurrent and dual enrollment programs, as well as external programs. The Director oversees the College in the High School Program, the Higher Education in Prison Program, as well as other partnership-led enrollment and program initiatives. The Director is the College’s primary contact for International Students and Community Partners who have special arrangements with the Institution for programs, courses, and college experiences.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and revise policy, standard operating procedures, and MOUs for all external programs.
  • Work with the College’s designated policy and compliance officer to ensure all external programs adhere to relevant State and Federal regulations.
  • Work closely with the Office of Academic Affairs and Faculty on program development, course scheduling, and instructor support across all external programs.
  • Act as primary liaison to high schools, correctional facilities, and other partner sites to ensure the smooth operation of external programs. This requires working closely with several stakeholders such as high school superintendents, principals, guidance counselors, parents, students, Department of Corrections officials, incarcerated individuals, and other key contacts in partner agencies.
  • Develop strategies for increasing and sustaining enrollment in external programs.
  • Work with the College’s Accreditation Liaison Officer to ensure all external programs meet the standards of accreditation and are appropriately registered.
  • Act as the College’s primary liaison to third-party partners, such as Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison and site coordinators.
  • Develop and coordinate events that support faculty and professional staff in external programs, such as orientations, training, and development.
  • Work closely with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to ensure external programs are appropriately assessed, developing plans for increasing program effectiveness.
  • Support the Office of Enrollment Management in developing the institution’s Enrollment Management Strategy, so that the enrollment goals of external programs contribute to the overall growth and sustainability of the institution.
  • Support the Office of Enrollment Management by attending enrollment-related events.
  • Monitor the progress of students within external programs, as appropriate, to ensure institutional outcomes for external programs are being met.
  • Work within partner sites (especially correctional facilities), as needed, to complete enrollment-related documentation. Ensure the timely and effective registration of all external program students.
  • Work with the Dean of Enrollment Management to increase and support enrollment from international students.
  • Act as the College’s Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) for Homeland Security.
  • Lead on appropriate grant and funding opportunities related to growth and support for external programs as assigned by the Dean.
  • Utilize Banner, DegreeWorks, OnBase, and other campus systems to carry out necessary functions related to the administration of external programs.
  • Supervise staff within the department, as assigned.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate field such as higher education administration, school administration, student affairs, or business.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in managing programs.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in higher education or a similar field.

 

Salary and Benefits Information

Annual 12-month salary range $65-$75K, dependent on qualifications and experience.
