Director of the Center for Early Childhood Education (CECE)
Emporia State University is seeking applications for the Interim Director of the Center for Early Childhood Education (CECE). The interim director is an unclassified employee of the university in a year-round administrative appointment, and reports to The Teacher’s College dean.
About CECE:
Since its inception in 2004, CECE has provided a high quality early childhood environment for children of ESU students, faculty, and the surrounding community. The center currently provides programming to approximately 60 children during the academic year, and 85 children during the summer. Through its affiliation with The Teachers College, CECE also serves as a resource for university students and faculty for observation, class projects, field experiences, and research.
Position Responsibilities:
The interim director is responsible for the overall day-to-day functioning of CECE. This includes overseeing the CECE budget, staff, dietary requirements and food programming, licensing and accreditation requirements, and maintaining developmentally appropriate programming. The director also works in close cooperation with the Early Childhood Unified Program, faculty members, and the families in order to maximize the quality of services and create a “best practices” environment. The interim director is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to continuing professional competence, and promoting teamwork and collaboration at the center in order to engage families and children in high quality programming.
Minimum Qualifications:
The successful applicant will hold a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in a related field, including at least 9-credit hours in college-level work in administration, leadership, or management, and 12-credit hours (or equivalent) in early childhood education, child development, elementary education or early childhood special education that addresses child development and learning from birth through eight years. Applicant must have six months of experience teaching at a licensed facility.
