Lucas County The Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County is accepting applications to fill the position Manager of Communications until position is filled.
Summary
The part time position will work 20 hours per week and is responsible for development, implementation and coordination of all Board communication activities to include but not limited to; marketing, branding, public relations, media relations, social media development and content creation, and development and oversight of the Board’s Organizational Communication Plan. The position will also be responsible to support communication efforts related to levy campaigns. The position reports to the Director of Quality and Planning and will communicate directly with the Executive Director as necessary to ensure appropriate situational awareness.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
1. Act as the primary liaison for external associations, groups, organizations and media to ensure appropriate staff responses to inquiries and other request for information.
2. Develop, implement and monitor a MHRSB Organizational Communication Plan which includes routine and specialized strategies for communicating with diverse populations.
3. Supervise the development and distribution of all Board communications, including but not limited to all verbal statements, newsletters, brochures, booklets, infographics, data or service reports, social media content or postings and all media releases.
4. Supervise the Board’s use of all social media, including its development, content, and maintenance.
5. Coordinate all Board communication efforts to promote branding and assure an overall consistent messaging and presentation.
6. Prepare for submission to the Board, State Departments, County Commissioners, Stakeholders and the Community at large, an annual report describing the Board’s activities for the year.
7. Develop and maintain a marketing campaign budget, with approval of the Director of Quality and Planning, and oversight from the Associate Director.
8. Perform public speaking presentations as assigned,
9. Serve on various state and local committees as assigned.
10. Manage contracts (if any) and act as the liaison with the selected marketing/public relations firms as appropriate.
11. Coordinate and supervise communication operations for the levy campaign,
12. Other relevant duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
The part time Manager of Communications will have a Baccalaureate degree in the area of marketing, communications or similar, AND, 3 years’ experience performing similar activities; will have proficient public speaking skills, experience in message development and delivery, technical writing, and knowledge of various communication strategies. The successful candidate will understand relevant economic, cultural and political issues in Lucas County, will have advanced knowledge of content development and use all forms of social media; excellent communication skills, and will be culturally sensitive to racial, ethnic, class and other differences in people. The Candidate must present a professional demeanor and have a strong belief in the MHRSB mission.
