Compliance Specialist
Do you have banking and compliance experience? Do you have a general understanding of banking operations and compliance functions? If so, KS StateBank has an opportunity for someone to join our Compliance team as a Compliance Specialist at our Westloop location in Manhattan, KS.
The Compliance Department acts as the internal quality control for the Bank, ensuring that employees follow all regulations and policies for the benefits of the Bank and its clients. As a Compliance Specialist, you will act as an investigator to find missing information, review transactions for suspicious activity, and make sure that required notifications are sent to clients by mandated deadlines. This position is essential to help KS StateBank maintain its integrity and reputation within the community. You will be working as part of a team, assisting with the review and processing of adverse actions, performing due diligence monitoring, and aiding the Bank Secrecy Act Analyst. Training on appropriate software and actions will occur.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with daily Customer Due Diligence (CDD) monitoring • Review and process adverse actions
- Review monthly credit report billings
- On a monthly basis, assist with reviewing HMDA forms for accuracy, timeliness, and completeness
- Have awareness of all due dates and be able to organize and prioritize work effectively to meet those deadlines
- Perform CDD monitoring on a daily basis
- Monthly duties include reviewing credit bureau report billings on a monthly basis, completing flood hazard determination on a monthly basis—to be submitted by the due date, and submitting HMDA scrub on a monthly basis
- Bring to the attention of coworkers and supervisor in the Compliance department any discrepancies discovered through the performance of duties
- Adverse actions; contact the Loan Officers to obtain further information, new documentation, or to have the loan officer resubmit a file; maintain open communication with Loan System Administrators to discuss adjustments to access or alternative form options
- Know regulations regarding adverse actions, including KS StateBank specific procedures and the required timelines for completion
- Know and follow KS StateBank procedures for the collection of CDD data and reporting requirements
- Know federal regulations regarding Suspicious Activity Reports (including the steps to/signs of money laundering); requirements for filling out Currency Transaction Reports; indicators of possible internet/online gambling; etc., and any other unusual transactions or things that may arise
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in accounting, business administration, finance or economics preferred
- One to two years previous banking and/or compliance experience strongly preferred
TECHNICAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Have knowledge of, or the ability to learn, the following software programs: Encompass; Synergy; Jack Henry; Yellow Hammer; 4|Sight; LaserPro; and edit and/or comment on PDF documents
- Continuing knowledge development of compliance regulations and their application
- General knowledge and understanding of commercial banking, operations and compliance functions
- Strong professional interpersonal, communication (written and verbal); maintain a calm demeanor when working with internal clients
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong decision making, analytical and investigative abilities with attention to detail and accuracy
- Display irreproachable integrity, confidentiality and objectivity
- Strong project management skills
