Engineers are responsible for designing much of the human environment we use every day. Nowhere is that more apparent than in the fields of civil engineering, environmental engineering, and architectural engineering. Roads, bridges, buildings, water resources, air quality and more -- these all play an increasingly important role in our lives.
The degree programs offered through the department and leading research prepare KU students to have a well-designed and positive impact on the world around them. Both undergraduate degrees offered by the department are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. Missouri residents in our BS ARCE program, via an annually-revisited agreement between the two states, are usually eligible for tuition-reduction reciprocity. The application form is available from the Dean's Office of the School of Engineering or the Architecture Department in the School of Architecture, Design, and Planning.
The department's graduates leave the university as alumni prepared for success in their chosen profession. A few of our graduates are listed here: Highlighted Alumni or Academy.
The department boasts a vibrant faculty that includes three Distinguished Professors (David Darwin, Dennis Lane and Stan Rolfe) and many others who are established or rising leaders in their field. With its proud history as a foundation, the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering is always ready to step into new territory and provide the knowledge and skills needed for innovation for generations to come.
