Job Description
NAU'S Advancement | Foundation is seeking a Financial Oversight Manager to join their dynamic team. This position oversees the coordination of monthly, quarterly, and annual budget reports and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness. The Fincancial Oversight Manager compares actual results with original financial forecasts to determine the effectiveness and accuracy of divisional activities. The employee develops and implements divisional policies and procedures to optimize the university's fiscal oversight and meet all budgetary goals. This position provides training and assistance to departmental administration regarding NAU policies and procedures, including but not limited to, guidelines for travel and purchasing. They will act as the main liaison for division's financial activities with the university and third parties, such as University Budget Office and Financial Service teams. Provides support and coordination for Foundation administration and engagement activities under the guidance of the Foundation CFO.
Budget and Financial Oversight - 35%
- Ensures budget compliance and manages resource allocation and reallocations across multiple departments.
- Analyzes and compares financial reports to original forecasts to analyze program effectiveness and identify cost reduction measures.
- Develops budgets and strategic plans to guide financial planning decisions.
- Oversees and participates in analysis and modeling of various scenarios related to department expense tracking to make decisions to improve the operations of the unit.
- Oversees and manages actual financial data to plans, forecasts and budgets, evaluating areas of divergence.
- Oversees and manages forecasts and models of various future financial scenarios, guiding university planning decisions.
Processes, Policies & Guidelines - 20%
- Prepares advanced and guides low to mid-level analysis, reports and communications for key stakeholders.
- Provides guidance and training to divisional constituents/administrative staff in adherence to policies and procedures.
- Main liaison and subject matter expert for the divisional financial activities and support.
- Prepares and provides oversight of divisional transactions that may have a financial implication in accordance with set policies and guidelines. This may include processing of transactions, such as IDTs and/or journal entries.
Foundation - 40%
- Provides support and coordination for Foundation administration and engagement activities under the guidance of the Foundation CFO. This may include, but is not limited to, support with Foundation committee activities.
- Provides guidance and training to divisional constituents/administrative staff in adherence to policies and procedures of the Foundation.
- Assists with secondary review and approvals to maintain internal controls within the organization.
- Assists with other operational duties, such as year-end close.
Other - 5%
- Other duties as assigned
- May direct the work efforts of individual contributors, student employees, or temporary workers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; and
- 2-4 years of accounting/finance experience; and
- 1-2 years of financial management experience; or
- Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Finance experience in higher education and/or non-profit sector.
- Experience with PeopleSoft, Sage Inacct, and/or NAU systems and applications.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge:
- Expert knowledge of financial operations tools, procedures, processes, policies, and concept; such as payroll management systems and budget analysis projects, as well as such as expense tracking, and trend analysis.
- Knowledge of financial reporting in higher education and university budgeting processes.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal financial reporting regulations.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Skill in detailed and complex numerical computations and reports.
- Skill in financial modeling and analysis.
Abilities:
- Familiarity with or the ability to quickly learn relevant job duties and responsibilities.
- Communicates effectively.

Salary
Anticipated salary range is $62,996 to $78,745. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
