Several  outdoor activities are offered in the area. The 10,000-acre Kirwin Wildlife Refuge provides excellent  hunting and fishing. Additionally, there are 3 state parks and lakes all within a one-hour drive  offering camping and fishing opportunities; as well as a large reservoir just across the state line into  Nebraska. Deer, turkey, pheasant, quail, and dove hunting are all available and in the area.
