Production Manager - Heat Treat
Directs all heat treat activities including safety, scheduling, production, quality control, shipping and continuous improvement by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains safety first policy.
Ensures quality control procedures are in place and operating effectively.
Performs metallurgical testing on products and maintains appropriate documentation as necessary.
Establishes and executes production schedules to meet quality and delivery requirements of both internal and external customers while maximizing internal resource efficiencies, such as labor, materials and equipment.
Ensures supplies and materials are being purchased/utilized in the most cost-effective manner and that they are available to sustain operating requirements.
Ensures equipment is being maintained appropriately to maximize safety and uptime.
Establishes professional relationships with customers and communicates with them as necessary.
Engages in, and promotes, continuous improvement activities, including an active 5S program.
Assists other internal departments as necessary.
Assists with review of financial results and future planning as requested.
Performs heat treat operating functions as necessary.
Supervises/coaches 1 to 3 operators in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision to read and compile numerical and statistical information.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, open flames and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud from mechanical noises. The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection in designated areas.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Metallurgy or Materials Science field with three years of related experience is preferred. Prior sand and permanent mold casting experience and a general working knowledge of foundry and heat-treating operations could be useful.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public
Ability to perform mathematical concepts such as plane, geometry, trigonometry, algebra and business math.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the willingness to learn Delmia Works.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
