What you will be doing:
MetroNet is searching for a Financial Analyst to work within the Margin Assurance Department to provide financial modeling for various other departments within the company, including executive management. As Financial Analyst, you will gather a wide variety and volume of data from accounting and database sources. Using that data, you will create new financial models and maintain existing ones, in order to provide analysis regarding the profitability of departments, markets, and the company as a whole. In order to do this, you will need to communicate with various individuals within the company, taking their requirements and delivering insights that they can use to make critical decisions.
- Assisting in the development of forecasts for the annual budget.
- Providing monthly reporting on departmental expenses, including sales cost-per-acquisition.
- Maintaining and updating monthly financial reports.
- Assisting in the improvement of financial models used to calculate the internal rate of return and net present value of residential buildouts.
- Developing analysis to project the profitability of new products and services.
- Other projects and tasks on an as-needed basis, including invoice auditing, and resolution of payment issues.
What you need for this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, or Mathematics preferred. Other bachelor’s or associate’s degrees may be considered if accompanied by an equivalent combination of coursework and/or work experience. Related certifications and completed programs will be considered a plus.
- 1-3 years’ experience in financial, data, or accounting analysis preferred (or an equivalent combination of coursework and internships).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with large datasets, complex formulas, and pivot tables is essential. Exposure to Excel macros and VBA is a plus.
- A working knowledge of accounting principles and a thorough understanding of financial principles, including time valuation, cash flow, risk and return, as well as the ability to read and understand financial statements, are essential.
- Some experience using Microsoft Access or writing SQL queries is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, an ability to solve complex and non-routine problems, and attention to detail are essential.
