Description:
The Department of Computer Science at Queens College in the City University of New York invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position, with appointment to begin in Fall 2023. Lecturers at CUNY can earn a Certificate of Continuous Employment (CCE) after 5 years, which is the equivalent to tenure. Applicants are expected to have successfully taught a variety of undergraduate and/or graduate courses in computer science or related areas in recent years.
The primary responsibility of the position will be to teach computer science courses. In addition, the Lecturer will serve as the departmental advisor for students and will share responsibility for committee and departmental assignments that may have administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
Located in the vibrant and diverse borough of Queens in New York City, Queens College has earned high rankings in prestigious college lists such as Forbes’ America’s Best Value Colleges. The Computer Science Department serves over 2,600 undergraduate majors and about 70 master's degree students and participates actively in the Computer Science Ph.D. program based at the CUNY Graduate Center.
Qualifications: Candidates are required to have a master's degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, and at least one year of experience teaching college level computer science or related courses. A Ph.D. in computer science or a closely related discipline is preferred, but not required, for this position.
Compensation: $74,575-$92,878, depending on candidate’s qualifications and experience. CUNY also provides benefits package to its faculty, covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs.
