R24-30 Senior PSWP Trainer

The Professional Development Program (PDP) of the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College seeks a service-minded individual who is committed to performing high-quality work to fill a Senior Trainer position in PDP’s Public Service Workshops Program (PSWP) located in Albany, NY. 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Under the direction of the program manager or designee, provide instructor-led, in-person and virtual training to New York State (NYS) employees from various agencies. The Senior Trainer will be expected to collaborate with a training and curriculum development team, serving as a master trainer. Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing live training throughout NYS to state employees from various agencies (estimated 10% expected travel outside the Capital Region).
  • Working with state trainers to prepare them to deliver approved courses.
  • Planning, researching, designing, developing, and implementing a variety of performance-based curricula and educational materials, including in-person classroom training, live virtual training through Webex, and self-paced educational and performance support materials.
  • Reviewing and monitoring curricula and written products to assure quality and conformance with project objectives.
  • Maintaining complete records, preparing routine reports, and assisting preparation of materials for sponsors.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to meet contract requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting institution.
  2. A minimum of three years’ experience with adult learners conducting workforce training that may include professional development topics such as communication skills. This experience must include at least one year experience instructing virtual classes.
  3. Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
  4. Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging, relative to their role.
  5. Ability to learn new processes and become familiar with training content in a timely fashion.
  6. Ability to work with experienced and new trainers to deliver approved courses.
  7. Demonstrated proficiency with oral and written communication.
  8. Ability to work variable work hours and travel throughout NYS (including to areas that may not be served by public transportation) are required to gather information, test systems, or deliver training. Estimated 10% expected travel outside the Capital Region; mainly NYC, Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton and occasionally Long Island. Travel to other regions in the State may also be required.
  9. Ability to lift and transport computer equipment (laptops, PCs, monitors, etc.) up to 40 pounds.

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s degree from a college or university accredited by USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  2. Experience instructing classes using Webex.
  3. Experience delivering training for public sector employees.
  4. Knowledge of NYS Workforce Professional Development.
  5. Supervisory experience.
  6. Knowledge of and experience training workers in a unionized environment.
