Production PlannerPurpose & Scope:

Responsible for planning and scheduling jobs in the factory within the standard practice, policy and SC and A Code of Ethics. The responsibilities will be focused on the planner’s value stream product line (Marine Hydraulics).


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manages production schedules to ensure 100% on-time delivery of all customer orders.
  • Responsible for the analysis of sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements.
  • Manages and presents production plan for product line looking out 1-3 years.
  • Compiles production financial plan for fiscal year and updates month by month. Drives material and production to achieve set goals.
  • Provide initial customer order ship date promises to customer service.
  • Reviews customer orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority.
  • Manages inventory levels to meet goals for both WIP and finished goods.
  • Complete shipping information and delivery date input.
  • Order floor stock with shelf life material for production.
  • Interface with manufacturing personnel, purchasing personnel, etc. on material status and production planning issues.
  • Determines new product requirements and current inventory status of component parts, orders materials, and monitors the status of these materials.
  • Analysis Support – shipment plans, changes and effects, gross margin, cycle time, on time, scrap, capacity, etc.
  • Assist in maintaining accuracy of the database by arranging for the correction of errors and the MRP item master maintenance of new information.
  • Production Planning, both short term to meet shipment schedules (contract due dates and shipment plans) and long term (backlog analysis)
  • Prioritize receiving inspection to ensure steady flow of material to stock, backlog analysis, revenue planning (flash report), and SJDP input.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Associates Degree in Business required and 5 years’ experience or;
  • High School Diploma/GED and 4-8 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment or related field.
  • Experience with purchasing, expediting, MRP/ ERP systems, quality/continuous improvement initiatives, manufacturing safety practices and MS Office applications.
  • JIT, TRM, APICS Certification or similar
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position.
