Southwestern College is seeking an Assistant Professor of Mathematics to teach a variety of courses which may include Introductory Statistics, Single and Multivariable Calculus, and upper-level, proof-based courses including Abstract Algebra, Linear Algebra, Geometry, Mathematical Analysis and Complex Variables. The position also includes teaching general education courses. Co-curricular duties may include being the point of contact for the education division in all secondary and mid-level mathematics education program and working with other department members and the division chair to plan teaching schedules that ensure proper offerings that meet the intuition's mission and general education needs. Specific course and co-curricular assignments depend on credentials and area of expertise. While a strong record of scholarship is appreciated, this position is focused on teaching. Therefore, a strong record of successful teaching and interaction with students as a mentor is more important for this position than a candidate’s record of scholarship.
Qualifications
A Master’s degree in Mathematics is required. Preferred candidates will have a doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Mathematics or a related field. ABD will be considered. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated teaching effectiveness; teaching experience at the undergraduate or secondary level is required.This is a full-time position with benefits that begins in Fall 2023.
