FLSA Range: Non-Exempt .75 FTE 30 hours a week
TS Range: 4/5 ($16.59)

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains a clean, safe and healthy building environment at all times. Work involves cleaning and maintaining assigned facilities within the Child Development Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Wet mop tile floor areas in classrooms and bathrooms
- Sweep and clean aggregate floor in foyer
- Vacuum carpets in hallways, classrooms and office areas
- Clean front interior entry to building and office areas
- Clean and sanitize restroom floors, walls, sinks, and toilets
- Re-supply all related paper products
- Remove trash and garbage from assigned areas and place in proper containers
- Shovel snow from sidewalks and de-ice as needed
- Operate custodial equipment, vacuum cleaners and carpet cleaning machines
- Adhere to center safety policies
- Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
- Note and report repairs that need to be made in the facility
- Strip, burnish and wax tile floors on a scheduled basis
- Clean carpets on a scheduled basis
- Do minor maintenance and repair work around facility and grounds
- Attend required trainings as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 18 years of age. Completion of high school degree or GED and 2 years of relevant experience.
- Meet Department of Early Learning requirements (tb test, criminal background test, fingerprinting)
- Passing criminal background check is a condition of employment.
- Completing and passing a pre-employment drug screening test as a condition of employment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform job responsibilities as assigned.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to speak effectively with staff and supervisors. Ability to read directions and task lists, read safety rules and equipment operation instructions is an essential function of this position.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
The position requires limited mathematical skills. Ability to mix cleaning fluids in ratios of ounces and gallons.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands of this position are representative of those that must be met by an employee successfully perform the essential functions of this position. At any given moment during the shift, the position may require frequent lifting, carrying, shoveling, holding, bending, stooping, stretching, pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, reaching or moving equipment with a weight range up to 50 pounds, or responding immediately and appropriately to multiple or unexpected situations or emergencies. Employment or volunteer service within Squaxin Island Child Development Center is conditioned on completing and passing a Criminal History Background Check as well as having finger-prints if a first time hire.
