Information Systems Clinical Application Specialist (RN)
- Plans, executes, and manages the integration of new applications into existing systems and software throughout the hospital/practice.
- Assists Clinical Module Leaders with day to day operational software issues for Meditech: ARM, SCH, ORM, PCM, PHA, STS, OE, EDM, PWM, HUB, PCS, LAB, RXM, RAD, PHM, PD
- Collaborates with department leaders, administrative staff, physicians and staff members to continually make necessary changes in the computerized clinical documentation system.
- Assists with trouble shooting for the clinical documentation system on an as needed basis.
- Works with support company to prepare for planned updates to software and hardware.
- Works with department leaders and the quality program at Susan B. Allen to initiate and conduct, systematic, on-going and intermittent, specialized review of the computerized records.
- Provides necessary training for employees, students, medical staff and others as needed, on the use of the computerized documentation system.
- Participates as an active member of the clinical documentation problem solving team.
- Ensures that integration projects meet hospital/practice requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.
- Develops standards and processes to support and facilitate integration projects and initiatives.
- Researches and makes recommendations on integration products and services in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Leads integration testing phase of software and applications under testing in order to identify and remedy potential problem areas.
- Builds relationships with software vendors to gain an understanding of application architectures and required functionality.
- Ensures the collection and coherent interpretation of the various hospital/practice processes affected by integration efforts.
- Works diligently to enhance or improve hospital/practice processes via integration or as necessary, minimize the impact of integration on those processes.
- Evaluates results of integration projects, then report and make recommendations based on findings.
- Where applicable, investigates and qualifies potential areas in which to introduce Web services.
- Performs analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of application software problems for end users; recommends and implements corrective solutions.
- Receives and responds to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding application software problems.
- Performs other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrates strong background in the integration of clinical workflows into clinical documentation intervention and assessments. Needs to have a broad assessment knowledge and clinical experience with patient assessment, required for documentation.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Experience:
Clinical experience of at least two years is required. Must be knowledgeable of computerized documentation.
Certification/Licensure:
RN licensure. Must possess evidence of current Kansas license or eligibility for licensure exam or valid temporary permit to practice (if coming from out of state).
Code Blue Training:
Ability to activate Code Blue status by dialing 200 as required. This position requires frequent sitting, occasional standing, and walking. Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds is expected. Manual and finger dexterity are required as well as eye/hand coordination. Vision and hearing must be corrected to normal range. Working conditions may be stressful and may require exposure to communicable diseases. Occasional bending, twisting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching and grasping are required. Repetitive movements such as typing and writing are required. Must be able to use office equipment: copier, typewriter, computer and telephone. The ability to distinguish letter or symbols is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical demands of the clinical department position must be met in addition to those for this position.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is scheduled predominately during normal business hours Monday through Friday. Overtime, evenings, weekend and holiday work may be required for continued operation of department. Specialist may be required to answer phone calls related to HCIS during non-daytime hours. Training of employess and medical staff during non-daytime hours may be occasionally required. Limited amount of call time might be required.
