Retention Specialist Counselor
Responsibilities
•Fulfill the requirements of a federal grant to develop and implement a mentoring program with retention services directed to students from underserved and minority communities to enhance the student's sense of belonging, identify educational needs, and engage in early mitigation of risk factors to promotion.
•Provide confidential counseling services for medical and PA students, resident physicians and their family members.
•Develop the STUDENT SUCCESS program in conjunction with the Student Services staff and the associate deans.
•Teach medical and PA students and resident physicians educational topics related to student success and wellness.
•Serve on SCM committees, as assigned.
•Participate in educational scholarship.
•Attend School and College-wide events.
Requirements
•Master's degree or above, with a counseling, education, psychology or social work major.
•Licensed to provide counseling in the State of Oklahoma.
•Knowledge and experience in providing educational services to post-secondary/professional/graduate school students.
•Experience providing educational wellness programming.
Preferred
•Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Ed.D, PsyD, etc.).
•Experience with health professional students.
