Associate Executive Director of Operations
University Auxiliary Services at Albany, Inc. (UAS), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation in Albany, New York that invests in and provides services to enhance the educational, research, learning and living experiences of the University at Albany community.
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Associate Executive Director of Operations provides skilled professional support and leadership for the UAS service operations on campus. This includes management of the UAS operations team and oversight of several contract relationships on campus with vendors including but not limited to dining services, vending, student storage, linen, laundry and Microfridge.
Responsibilities also include coordination and facilitation of renovation and construction projects with UAlbany, consultants and contractors; review of construction documents (i.e. designs, renderings, diagrams and blueprints) for productivity, cost, aesthetics, customer appeal, energy and labor efficiencies; assisting with development of request for proposals, contracts and amendments and negotiating contracts and resolving contract management issues; food service equipment purchasing, inventory, and maintenance oversight; and budgeting and financial analysis for the Operations department.
The successful candidate for this position will be knowledgeable about current developments and regulations related to nutrition, health, and dining operations, and possess proven organizational and project management abilities, strong leadership and management skills,
exceptional interpersonal and communications skills (in both written and spoken formats) in addition to strong analytical skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, and Access. A demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service, an ability to work independently and as a team member in a culturally diverse environment, and an ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule that will include night, weekend and holiday work at times are also required.
Candidate must have at least a bachelor’s degree and seven or more years of food service management experience. (Lesser degree with other experience will be considered.) Preferential consideration will be given to candidates with experience managing in a university setting; progressively responsible operational, financial and human resource management experience in the nonprofit or government sectors; contract management, creation and issuance of requests for proposals, evaluation of proposals received, contract negotiations and administration experience.
