Excel Industries, Inc. introduced the first zero-turn mower in 1964. While the rest of the world has played catch-up, our innovative spirit has kept us at the front of the mower industry for over 50 years. Today we design and build the fastest and toughest zero-turn mowers in the industry, all from our headquarters in Hesston, Kansas. The Director of Quality will provide strategic leadership of quality improvement involving manufacturing.
This position will also be responsible for the development and implementation of all key quality standards and measurements.
Primary Duties Include:
- Develop and implement the key performance metrics with improvement strategies necessary to drive overall customer satisfaction.
- Measure and coordinate quality improvements, and reduce quality deficiencies.
- Measure and coordinate internal production quality improvements, and reduce quality deficiencies. Facilitate use of Continuous Improvement tools for problem solving such as root cause and corrective action processes with other applicable six sigma tools.
- Establish continuous quality improvement as a way of life by working with their counterparts in leadership.
- Interacts with most levels of personnel within Excel Industries. Supervise Quality personnel.
- Assist in improving the new product introduction process through Stage Gate process and Project Scheduling.
- Assist in establishing a Risk Management process in product development.
- Provide guidance and support to production in ways to Prevent Defects.
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor Degree from an accredited university in an Engineering or technical discipline required
- Demonstrated leadership in the area of Quality that has resulted in significant quality improvements working enterprise-wide
- Experience using 6 Sigma Tools
- Proven verbal and written communication skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Computer skills including proficiency using MS Office
