Position Purpose: ● The purpose of this position is to manage the performance and sales function in a single market or geographic area. The market manager is expected to achieve sales goals based on established market sales projects. Additionally, this position is responsible for administrative, operational, and expense management. This position requires the market manager to think creatively to create wins for clients , Transit Authority and the company. In most instances, the market manager is the only employee in a location. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: • Maintain and grow a personal account list in Albany & Glens Falls • Manage sales activities, inventory and client relationships in the designated territory. • Responsible for meeting and exceeding monthly, quarterly and annual sales projections. • Communicate with operations manager, administrative staff, and general sales manager on a consistent basis. • Maintain a positive relationship with different pertinent transit districts. • Think outside of the box to create wins for clients, staff and company. • MM is one of the liaisons between Lamar and the respective transit district(s) and is responsible for maintaining a positive relationship with said districts. • Establishes, develops and maintains business relationships with current and prospective customers in assigned territory to generate new business for the organization’s products daily. • Maintains and grows a personal account list. This involves making telephone calls in person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customers weekly. • Researches sources for developing prospective customers and for information to determine their potentials. • Develops clear and effective written proposals/quotations for the current and prospective customers. • Expedites the resolution of customer’s problems and complaints. • Coordinate sales efforts with marketing, sales management, accounting, and operations groups ensuring all groups are efficient and effective. • Analyzes the market’s potential and determines the value of existing and prospective customers value to the organization. • Shares pipeline report with Manager weekly on the designated day and time. • Identifies advantages and compares organization’s products • Plans and organizes personal sales strategy by maximizing the return on time investment for the market. • Supplies management with oral and written reports on customer’s needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services. • Keep abreast of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with marketing and service areas. Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements: • Excellent communication skills. • General knowledge of the local and national media trends, which includes companies outside of Lamar • Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction • Proven track record, that includes rank in the top 25% of the previous company • Ability to speak on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain information, explain policies and procedures, and persuade others • Ability to maintain a positive relationship with different transit districts • Ability to work under general direction and resolve most conflicts that may arise independently • Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly using correct English • Skill in analyzing information, problems, or situations to define problems, identify concerns/patterns, and formulate logical conclusion • Ability to take a leadership role both, internally and externally • Ability to take initiative of various projects and assignments • Ability to operate within a set budget • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Word in order to prepare business correspondence, presentations, and proposals

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience Requirements: • A high school diploma is required for this position. • A bachelor’s degree in a business or marketing related field is preferred. • Minimum of 3 years of successful sales and sales management experience in the advertising industry. • Proven B2B sales experience. • Winning track record of selling to local and direct clients. • 1-2 years’ experience in marketing, customer relations, and/or project management is preferred. • A driver’s license is required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: • The primary work environment for this position is an office or a vehicle. • The physical demands for this position include light lifting, pushing, reaching, seeing (which include reading, color distinction, acuity, depth perception, and peripheral vision), sitting more than 50% of the time, standing, stooping, talking, turning, walking, and climbing. • Nights spent away from home, traveling, are less than 10%.
